Katy Anderson headshotNet Zero Fellows encourage innovation and help expand the market for net-zero buildings. Energy Trust of Oregon is pleased to announce that Katy Anderson, an energy analyst at Glumac, is the latest recipient. Her research will focus on increasing the industry’s knowledge of cost drivers associated with multifamily new construction in Oregon.

At Glumac, Katy applies her engineering background on energy modeling for lifecycle cost studies, certifications like LEED® and Living Building Challenge, and energy code compliance in Oregon and Washington. She graduated with a BSc. in General Engineering from Harvey Mudd College in 2014 and has since worked as a dedicated energy analyst.

Through the fellowship, Glumac will receive funding to support Katy’s research in developing resources that design teams and energy modelers can use to estimate costs early in design, making it easier to optimize energy savings per dollar invested. This work supports the cost imperatives associated with building net-zero multifamily buildings.

Early in the design process, teams require both energy savings and cost estimates to improve energy efficiency within project budgetary constraints. The design community needs reliable methods and sources for high-quality data for multifamily design and construction. Katy is working to provide system-specific cost data for energy-efficiency measures, consolidating it into an accessible resource.

We look forward to learning from Katy’s research and sharing it with the entire building community next year. For more information on Energy Trust’s Net Zero Fellowship and to see past recipients, please visit our Net Zero Grants page.
