Tracy Scott to serve on Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund Committee

On July 3, the Portland City Council confirmed Tracy Scott, Energy Trust director of energy programs, to the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund Committee.

The Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund advances community-led projects that reduce carbon emissions, create economic opportunity and improve people’s resiliency to a changing climate. The program funds projects and approaches serving Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund priority populations—Portland’s frontline communities and neighborhoods, including communities of color, people with low incomes and people living with disabilities, as well as people historically excluded from workforce opportunities.

Early in her career, Scott worked with diverse communities as an organizer, job trainer and policy advocate. This involved collaboration with community-based organizations and where she honed her outreach and engagement skills.

As a committee member, Scott will offer her expertise and perspective gained from 18 years of experience in the energy industry and 12+ years in advocacy roles in workforce development, public housing program management, neighborhood safety, tenant rights and human resources. Scott will bring her professional experience and knowledge to committee decisions, while serving in a personal capacity.

“I am excited to work with other committee members to advocate for clean energy programs to benefit Portlanders with low and moderate incomes in communities of color. I am passionate about clean energy and community empowerment, and working with communities who are advocating for themselves, but don’t always feel like they have a voice,” said Scott.

The nine-member committee makes recommendations for the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund program, including oversight on program accountability and effectiveness and funding recommendations to the Mayor and City Council. Scott was recommended by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund Committee and confirmed by City Council for a term ending December 31, 2027.
