Energy Trust of Oregon cash incentives help make energy-efficiency improvements at multifamily properties more affordable.

Beginning January 1, the following incentive and requirement changes will apply:

  • Ducted heat pumps—Incentive amount will increase to $950 for installations completed between January 1 and March 31, 2021. Ducted heat pump upgrades must replace electric forced air furnaces and can no longer be stacked with heat pump advanced control incentives. This incentive is available for duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side multifamily properties only.
  • Heat pump advanced controls—Incentive can no longer be combined with other heat pump incentives such as ducted heat pumps, heat pump controls or smart thermostats. To qualify, advanced controls must be added to a new or existing heat pump where the thermostat is added to control the auxiliary or back-up electric furnace. This incentive is available for duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side multifamily properties only.
  • Extended capacity heat pumps—Must replace electric forced air furnace as residence’s primary heating source to be eligible for the higher incentive of $1,350. This incentive is available for duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side multifamily properties.
  • New RTUs with Variable Speed Supply Fan—New rooftop units (RTUs) must have a cooling capacity less than 65,000 Btu/h and have both a Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) and an economizer. This incentive is available for all existing multifamily properties.

In addition to the incentive and requirement changes listed above, Energy Trust will continue to offer bonus incentives for qualifying insulation and gas furnace installations at eligible duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side multifamily properties. To qualify, equipment must be purchased and installed between September 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
