Looking for a super-easy, low-cost way to reduce your electricity costs at home? You’ll find a solution in LEDs.
These powerhouse bulbs offer a lot of benefits: they last at least 15 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs and they use up to 85 percent less energy, which means you could save about $80 over the life of each bulb you install.
Thanks to incentives from Energy Trust, wider availability and more product selection, LEDs are now an even more affordable option to reduce your home’s energy costs.
Energy Trust has provided incentives for LEDs since 2014, back when the technology was still relatively new—and more expensive—for the average home. Energy Trust recognized the significant energy savings LEDs delivered and designed incentives to make LEDs more affordable for both residential and business customers.
“In the earlier days when LEDs were just coming onto the market, our incentives enabled more Oregonians to start using these products to lower energy use,” said Katie Wallace, Energy Trust’s marketing project manager. “Energy Trust incentives help offset the up-front costs and with the longer estimated lifespan of LED bulbs, customers can save over the short term and the long term.”
Fast forward to today, there is significant interest from homes and businesses to install LEDs as one of their energy-efficiency upgrades because of the savings they can achieve. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, installations are only expected to increase and LEDs are forecasted to make up 84 percent of all light bulbs sold by 2030.
