A modern eco-friendly building with a sloped roof covered in solar panels. The exterior features vertical wooden slats with geometric accents and large glass windows. Landscaped garden beds with young trees and shrubs line the paved sidewalk, and a small parking area is visible. Tall evergreen trees surround the site, emphasizing its natural setting.

Energy Trust of Oregon’s new on-demand training offers a deep dive into La Plaza Esperanza, Latino Network’s new headquarters in East Multnomah County. It’s an impressive 16,500-square-foot mass timber community center that serves the 50,000 Latino residents who live in the region.

In our on-demand training, you’ll meet La Plaza Esperanza’s design team and learn:

  • How the team achieved the creation of a beautiful, comfortable community space while also centering energy efficiency.
  • How the project achieved Path to Net Zero status and access over $67,000 in Energy Trust cash incentives for energy-efficiency features, including efficient lighting and envelope, variable refrigerant flow with energy recovery ventilator, a heat pump water heater and a solar array.
  • How the team incorporated Latino Network’s culturally specific programming, creating a community center that accommodates multiple uses while maintaining a cohesive design and welcoming atmosphere.

Thanks to the fantastic partnership of the project team, La Plaza Esperanza will enjoy $18,500 in estimated annual energy cost savings, including an estimated 113,400 annual kWh savings. That means lower operational costs and long-term sustainability, enabling Latino Network to successfully serve the needs of the community for years to come.
