Trade Ally of the Month: Home Comfort Inspections & Services

Located in Roseburg, Home Comfort Inspections & Services serves owners of single-family homes and mobile homes in Douglas, Coos and Curry counties. The business has been an Energy Trust trade ally contractor since its inception more than 10 years ago. Steve Campbell, owner, designed his business to “provide a quality service at a fair price to customers who need assistance and will truly benefit.”

After 18 years as an energy service representative for Pacific Power, Campbell started his home-grown business to provide duct testing and sealing of mobile and manufactured homes. “Energy Trust’s mobile home incentive resolved two challenges. It brought attention to an extreme need for duct sealing and then provided an affordable avenue for those who could not pay for the repairs,” said Campbell.

Energy Trust offers no-cost duct sealing and air sealing services for residents heating their mobile homes with electricity or gas from Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas, as well as free installation of energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, faucet aerators and showerheads. Energy Trust pays incentives directly to the contractor to minimize out-of-pocket expenses for the resident.

Since becoming a trade ally, Home Comfort Inspections & Services has brought in an impressive 3,000 projects in Energy Trust territory. Many jobs are memorable, but one stood out when Campbell and his employee stayed behind after finishing a no-cost mobile home duct sealing project to complete a few complimentary repairs: “The customer’s concerned son emotionally told us how his mother described us to him. Because of her limited vision all she could actually see was our silhouettes, and her statement to her son was ‘they looked like two angels that came to help me.’”
