County in the Spotlight: Douglas County

Southern Oregon’s Douglas County is one of the state’s most geographically diverse, stretching from Reedsport on the coast, southeast across the Pacific Coast Range to the county seat of Roseburg in the Umpqua Valley, and all the way east to Diamond Lake in the Cascade Range. Energy Trust is providing eligible customers in Douglas County with an equally diverse range of energy solutions through our energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs and 26 Energy Trust trade ally contractors located in Roseburg, Sutherlin and Myrtle Creek.

With potential for a variety of renewable generation technologies across its geography, Douglas County has received support from Energy Trust for large solar electric and biopower projects or studies at 61 sites across the county—resulting in generation of 17 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power more than 1,500 average homes.

Energy Trust and its trade allies have also helped a significant number of residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and public sector customers in Douglas County save energy and money. More than 8,300 energy-efficiency upgrades have been supported by Energy Trust, and the county has received more than $14 million in total incentives since 2002. Among those participating with Energy Trust  is Roseburg Forest Products, which has completed  more than 50 projects that are estimated to save the company approximately $2 million per year.
